The reason I am taking part in this co-op class is to learn all new skills I possibly can. Although meeting new people and getting skills in, i would change a couple things. One thing i would change would be if i could sit in a desk and learn how to put together a file. I want to learn what goes into a file, or i want to learn how to fax blood-work and prescriptions over to other doctors. I think it would be more interesting rather than putting files away. Overall, i enjoy my job and still have yet to learn more skills!
So far in my work experience, I've learned a lot. Typically, all i do is put away files by the last three letters of the patients last name. Simple task, but I've learned so much, the year number in the corner, and how they keep a file for 7 years until they get rid of it, even if they're not a patient anymore. I've also learned that the doctors offices have numbers, which also appears on the file. I have learned some things down the road and met some awesome people. I would recommend doing a co-op to a lot of people its an amazing experience once you get the hang of it!
I believe that the 20% time used in school should be used to figure out or work on what your career path should be. Example, in school everyday students go through the same routine over and over again, i believe you should be given the 20% of time to work on what you truly want to be and not just a student in a class room. Of course, the students appreciate all the time and effort that their teachers give to them, and the teachers are most rewarded by spending time in their work environment. Initially, students wont be in school forever, and most students don't have an idea of what direction they want to move to. The 20% time in school would be awesome because it gives students time to face their reality, and help them give the effort in achieving their future goals! I can relate this article to my work because i have to put all my effort into something for it to be completed as i want it to be. If i push myself to put away this many files or all of them, i will have time to do other things and have more opportunities.
Passion 1. any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate. 2. strong amorous feeling or desire; love; ardor. Unique 1. existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics: a unique copy of an ancient manuscript. 2. having no like or equal; unparalleled; incomparable: I am most excited to be working in a medical office. I haven't started in the office yet but i am pleased to have such an experience. I am happy to take part in Mrs. Candela's program and start off my career in the right direction! What i want to get out of this course is a career experience, what i mean by that is i want to learn how to file papers, and also want to learn how to take care of patients. I am most nervous about all the pressure put on me, if i mess up a file or make a mistake at all in the office. I feel the doctors will go fast past for me since they know the system better than me, but i hope i get a hang of it quick. Overall i am excited to be working in a cardiovascular office (heart doctor).
